Located in the quiet village of Sheering in Essex, The Old Rectory swimming pool is your own personal haven. The pool in the grounds of our family home, with stunning views across the Essex countryside.

USEFUL INFORMATION

  • Pool size: 12.5m long, 5m wide.
  • Pool depth: Slopes down from shallow end to depth of 2.5m.
  • Chlorine based water system. The pool is cleaned and maintained daily.
  • From May to September, the pool is heated to between 28 and 30 degrees depending on the outside air temperature. The pool is unheated outside these months, but bookable for cold water swimming.
  • Car parking is available on site for a maximum of 4 cars. If you require more than this, please email bookings@theoldrectorysheering.co.uk to see if we can help.
  • Changing facilities and portable toilet available for swimmers’ use. Please note, the toilet is unavailable during cold water swimming season.
  • There may be occasions where your booking will need to be cancelled – this can sometimes happen due to issues with the pool. We try hard to ensure this will not happen, but it can never be guaranteed. If, in the event of your booking having to be cancelled, we will give you as much notice as possible.
  • We charge per person on site (regardless of age), and not just swimming, so please reflect this in the number of people you book for.. You can book via the website for 12 people during summer, and 6 people during off-season. If you have a larger group, please email bookings@theoldrectorysheering.co.uk so we can discuss and advise on some further considerations and pricing. If you need to add further people to your session after you have booked, just email us and we can arrange this.
  • We unfortunately cannot control the weather, so please check in advance of your session. You can cancel at any point up to 48 hours before your session starts to receive a full refund.
  • During the summer season, weekend time slots will be available to book in advance to groups of more than 12 people for 2 hours or more. Any remaining time slots will be available for general bookings from the Monday prior, and will be released weekly.

RULES OF USE

  1. The pool is unsupervised; there is no lifeguard. It is the hirers’ responsibility to ensure that those who use the pool can swim adequately and do so at their own risk.
  2. Please note, the deep end is 2.5m. Only very capable swimmers should swim here.
  3. The pool is located in our own private garden. Please respect the space and only access the pool area, toilet and pool room for changing.
  4. Children under the age of 18 must be always accompanied and supervised by an adult.
  5. Hirers must be punctual to their time slot and only be on-site for the times they have booked. This includes time spent changing at the beginning and end of your session as well as departing the premises.
  6. At least one adult should have access to a mobile phone at all times to call emergency services, if required.
  7. Do not touch the pool equipment and pump.
  8. All pool chemicals are kept in the grey cupboard in the pool room. Do not open at any point.
  9. No alcohol is allowed on the premises.
  10. No glass is permitted in the pool area.
  11. All children who are not potty trained must always wear a swim nappy.
  12. No running around the pool area, as it can be slippery when wet.
  13. No smoking anywhere on the premises.
  14. All rubbish must be taken away with you at the end of your session.
  15. The portable toilet opposite the pool is available for your use. Please leave it in the condition in which you find it and report any problems.
  16. Dogs are not allowed to accompany swimmers to any session and are not permitted on the premises.
